"The room was basically good and the hotel is in a great location. On our arrival we found two problems - first, the sliding door to the bathroom was off its rails and stuck open. We had to wait till the following day for it to be fixed. The whole door arrangement cheapened the look of what was otherwise a comfortable room. The second problem was the shower faucet. It was a fairly standard that you had to switch the water from the bath faucet to shower head. Problem was that it didn’t work,...

"Location is very convenient, room is nice but lots of issues : 1)- thermostat doesn’t work well, room either too hot or too cold. Notify staff and nothing was done. 2)- Mirror in bathroom if too dark and not useable. 3)- Staff on weekend has no knowledge of anything else except checking in and our for guests. 4)- Breakfast is nice but eating in the dark and low ceiling basement is not a way to start your day. 5)- management is completely out of touch on the weekend."

"Our room was delightful and would have rated 5/5 if considered in isolation. However our 80 year old travelling companions who arrived around 7pm in the evening were told that even though they had booked and prepaid 6 months previously that the hotel was fully booked. They were shunted to an adjoining house and given an attic room accessed by an extremely steep staircase effectively a ladder. Compared to our room in the hotel itself, it was spartan. "The apartment is in a great location to explore Bergen from with the main high street 5-10 minutes walk, the Fishmarket 10-15 and Bryggen around 20 minutes walking. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby along with the mandatory 7-11 on most corners. "Overall the property was clean, but not a great hotel if you have issues with stairs. They gave us a room that you could only get to by stairs (full disclosure, they did carry our bags to and from the room) but you had a flight a stairs just to get to the main lobby. Would not recommend the hotel if you are older. Restaurant where breakfast was at was beautiful, but some items on the buffet were ice cold."

"Hospitality and restaurants were on strike for the duration of our stay, but the stay present were all very helpful and available. The only thing we noticed were that the hallways could have a better hoovering. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have even known they were short staffed. The street noise can be loud but they provide earplugs. "I really liked this hotel. We got a great room with a view of the water and it was on the corner, so we had windows on two sides. The location is great -- just a few minutes' walk away from the old parts of town and even walking distance from the train station. The only downsides we experienced were that the room is a bit dark (this seems to be a common hotel theme), and there was a strike while we were there, so some of the stuff was closed. But the hotel workers deserve to make a living wage,...

"You can’t beat the location. Directly by water, fish market, lots of great restaurants within blocks. Rooms were spacious, bathrooms have claw foot tubs! Breakfast excellent and for me a pharmacy around the corner thank god!"
