"The room I was in was very cramped (very little in the way of surfaces to put things on - maybe some shelves would help? , but it is one of the cleanest motels or hotels I have ever stayed in."
"We were a little concerned when we arrived, as another guest's vehicle had been vandalised - windshield smashed and glass everywhere. There were no further incidents during our stay. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful, although we were not given the ticket for our free breakfast which delayed us eating. It was resolved in a timely manner though. An old, historic hotel and beautiful views over the water."
"Our family had a trip booked via train from Saskatoon to Toronto that was canceled because of the wildfires. We decided to hop in the car and make it a road trip instead. The stretch from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay was of concern, but we decided to plow through and cover as many miles as possible to get past the red areas before any closures happened. We didn't have accommodations planned so I searched for a room in TB and this was the only room left at such a late time and with all the evacuations. We were in Dryden when I booked and it appeared we wouldn't be checking in until after 12:30am. The front desk has listed limited staffing after midnight and advised to call for arrangements - I spoke to a pleasant gentleman and let him know we wiuld be there "after midnight". It was just after 9pm when I called. What I didn't take into consideration was the extra hour time difference so we rolled in at 1:45am TB time. He waited up for us an extra almost 2 hours! I almost cried.
Sure, the motel is run-down. But you know what? There were no bedbugs. There was good wifi and the shower was perfectly fine. The beds were comfortable, the temperature was great, we couldn't smell the smoke from outside in our room. AND HE MADE SURE WE STILL HAD A PLACE TO STAY even though we were well past the limits. I would stay here again. We are ever grateful for his kindness and a safe, soft place to land after a chaotic day. Thank you!"
"This is an older facility with dated decorating, but the parking is convenient and our room was clean. This facility is good value for the money and is well suited to a budget conscious taveller"
"Rooms/staff/property was top notch. I thought price was way too high for a Sunday/Monday. As well food was just ok in the restaurant. Only My opinion…staff in the restaurant/bar They could sell ice to an eskimo. Nice to see people with charisma and that are out going especially with youth and this digital age.
Only two gripes
#1) they were cleaning/washing down the bricks where one would park when checking in so it was closed with pylons. When I’m paying 400.00 plus a night get the staff to do that job early a.m. and not during check in hours.
#2) the area west of the hotel….”other side of the tracks” is a little rough around the edges…some of the places a tourist wanted to visit were closed Sunday/Monday which is when we were there and looking forward to. No fault of the hotel but the next time someone from the chamber of commerce visits might want to mention police foot patrol presence and to clean up the walkway over the tracks. My chicken barn smelt better"
