"It is clean and new. The bed was comfortable. But I would never stay there again. The room backs up to an alley. There were garbage trucks at 1 am and 2 am in the morning emptying dumpsters. "The Red Lion Boise Downtowner is in dire need of a renovation. The entry/ registration area/ breakfast area is not bad even nice but the hallway carpeting is a mess and a trip hazard and dirty. The a/c didn't work in our room. Luckily the staff let me use their office fan at 3am to help with the heat. I changed hotels for our second night and was given a refund for that night and 1/2 off for our first night. The staff was very helpful and kind to help me out with this fustrating stay."

Staff couldn’t find our reservation upon check in at first which was frustrating and the pillows are very uncomfortable so the second time we stayed there we brought our own and booked directly through their website (with no issues at check in that time). "A lovely stay in the heart of town, walking distance to most attractions. Bikes are provided for rides, Greenbelt path is blocks away. A/C excellent on day there was a heat wave and an umbrella was by the door on a day that had rain. The property was well kept. So nice to see a historic home repurposed as a guest house."

If Marriott is hurting that bad for money just build it into the cost of the room. This hotel isn’t even downtown, it’s in a residential area. "The Avery was such a great find! Walking distance to most everything downtown Boise. The room was beautiful and had added little touches to make it a unique experience. The hotel had a lovely vintage feel. The staff was very professional and friendly. I will definitely stay here again."

"The hotel was clean but very out dated. Lots of maintenance should be done on these rooms. Toilet had a leak in the tank, when you took a bath you wound up standing in water up to your ankles because it did drain smoothly. The holder for shampoo, body wash was falling off the wall and had soap scum build up on it. The hair dryer is very out dated.
