"Went as a group of four aged 24-34, we had a blast! The staff were friendly and the party crew were very fun and entertaining. The food is mostly buffet style but you do have the options to eat at one of their specialty restaurants for dinner if buffet isn’t your style. There are five pools, three are more on the party side and two are away on a more relaxed side if thats your vibe. The beach had a lot of sargassum which is typical for the time of year we went. I would recommend going to one of the riu parties, they are a five minute shuttle ride to the hotel that hosts them and free for anyone staying at a riu. My two complaints were that the wait time for the elevators was always pretty long, and my other complaint was that the key cards for your room are extremely sensitive. The staff is very quick and friendly about reactivating your card but still a minor inconvenience. Overall we do plan to return to this location and do recommend!"

"Meh... Skip this resort if you are English speaking only, or if you care about a beach, or an ocean to swim in, or guacamole... The Bad: The beach is a joke, those who like it have never stayed in a Caribbean beach resort before this. It is a man made beach with almost no sand. Jagged rocks line the water entry. You have a very little and shallow swimming area. There is a boat fuel filling station on the back side of the hotel. The diesel smell others complain about is not just exhaust, the filling stating spills raw diesel time to time and it floods the hotel area in diesel smell. Guacamole, You may not care, but I do. There is NO Guac in the buffet, Ever, NON, Zilch, 20 years of visiting Cancun and this is a first for me.. They have it in the Mexican restaurant (which you only get a couple chances of going) and they are stingy with it. They also have it sometimes at the snack bar upstairs at lunch and it is not the same. texture and taste is like store bought fluffed guac in bulk. Deserts are also terrible. NO real chocolate in this place. unless you like Jello, soggy cakes or fro-yo, no sweets for you. (They wont even refill the small bowl of Nutella in the morning once it is gone.) You better know Spanish because you receive poor service without it. 8 days and their activity team never once approached us (3 teenagers and 2 adults). Food allergies where a mess trying to explain gluten and egg. Other than that, it was a nice place with good food."

"Stayed at this property over Mother’s Day and I did not know what to expect because after I had booked it, I read the reviews and they were very mixed. Very glad that we stayed the course because our experience was pretty excellent. The only thing that could be approved upon was the check-in. We arrived very early in the morning and of course our room was not ready. No problem. We would just hang out around the pool until check-in time at 3 I especially booked this hotel because I am a platinum on Expedia and we were supposed to get VIP benefits however we really receive any of those at 3 PM they had a huge amount of people trying to check in so we were passed up multiple times even though we had been waiting since about 11 AM and it was officially check-in time other than this, Everything was great. The food was not life-changing. Good and consistent and very edible. I will say I’ve stayed at countless other secrets properties, and this hotel had by far the best buffet quality out of any other secrets chain. The real reason to book this hotel is for sure the beach despite the whole Riviera and Maya area having issues with Sargasso because of the location it’s naturally protected and there was no seaweed anytime we were there. The service from every employee we came across was excellent. Everyone was very kind and helpful. We did not have a bad experience with any employee & service at the beach and the pool was both very quick. Overall, really great stay and I’ll book again."
