Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"There is no flexibility with kids when it comes to food, the staff tricks you into getting a tour of the “property” which didn’t happen just for you to buy a travel package And if you don’t, they get mad… You can’t really get into the restaurants there is a waiting list of 1hr or more… so if you have kids go to a different hotel, this is not for kids. There’s no flexibility at all. Room service is nasty and the food is always the same thing. They don’t really change it. They say they have Italian, and this and that but they don’t, always the same! "

Excellence Punta Cana - Adults Only All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"EPC was a nice resort, but not the higher end that we were used to during our stays at other Excellence Resorts. The hotel is aging but they are constantly working to upkeep the grounds. The rooms are not as luxurious as their sister hotels, for example the shower has painted walls, not tile. The service was no where near what we experienced in other Excellence locations. The bellhops and check in at the Excellence club was great, but service in other areas was less friendly. Our bright spot for restuarant service was Davey at Chez Isabelle who was so friendly and pleasant. The bartenders were just ok, it felt like no one really went out of their way to be friendly. Just doing the job. The entertainment staff and offerings were poor. They did not attempt to engage people in the few activities that were offered, and did not attempt to enhance participation. By far the worst entertainment team I have seen.
The other biggest issue were the menus at the restaurants. They have been reduced to such small offerings that at times it was hard to find something that sounded good, and often the items did not match the descriptions in the menu at all. Even the items which have been on the menus for years the recipes and presentations have declined.
We met many people who have been here several times, but I would not return to this particular resort in the Excellence group. "

Grand Bavaro Princess - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"Great experience, buffet was like most resorts. Hit or miss. But the staff was absolutely amazing! "

Costa Bahia Hotel Paseo Caribe

"Ok"

Hotel Riu Montego Bay - Adults Only - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"Loved our trip. Staff was wonderful. We did have a couple of grumpy bartenders up in the 24 hour bar that made us feel like we were a bother. Overall our stay was wonderful and I will continue to book with Riu."

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana an All-Inclusive Resort
10/10 Excellent
"The staff was top notch. Always smiling always accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. "

Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort Spa & Casino - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"The property was beautiful. The different experiences weren’t very clear. You could do the regular experience, adults only or the unique. It was like different experiences unlocked different things including restaurants and buffets which we were unaware of so the first two days our food was mediocre, we couldn’t get into the adult pool without the upcharge of an adults only wristband. We eventually upgraded to the unique experience which came with a “personal butler” which we barely seen, we were about to get into other restaurants which were better than what we had at first, different bars & we could go into all pools. The resort itself is beautiful and the boulevard is where to go IN THE EVENING. we were pretty disappointed that not much was open during the day. Overall 7/10. "

Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar, Dorado
10/10 Excellent
"This is my second time staying here and loved it both times! Rooms are beautiful with gorgeous views. Staff is really friendly. The restaurant on site called Mahi Mahi is really good and reasonably priced. "

The Reef at Atlantis
6/10 Okay
"READ BEFORE YOU BOOK – Reef Hotel (Family of 5, kids 1–7). For the price, this property does NOT deliver the value.
KIDS CLUB: $75 per child for just 2 hours (not a typo). Only one kids club serves all four hotels, so capacity is limited and expensive.
WATER PARK: Excellent. This is the highlight of Atlantis.
POOL/BEACH: Pools are NOT heated, so avoid outside peak summer. Service is very poor. We sat at the Reef pool over an hour without seeing a server. If you want food/drinks, sit near a bar or restaurant. The surf is a bit rough, so don’t come if you want a true Caribbean beach experience.
RESTAURANTS: Very limited at the Reef (Starbucks + basic pool food). Better options are at Cove/Coral, but Cove restaurants are often fully booked—you must reserve in advance. Coral is a long walk with kids. Only one buffet (Royal) and it’s average at best.
We ended up eating at Shake Shack multiple times due to lack of availability and disappointing food quality.
DOLPHIN/SEA LION: We did both. If choosing one, pick sea lions. Dolphins had no photographer. You can’t bring your phone in the water, so someone on shore must take pics. If dolphins don’t have a photographer, skip it.
BOTTOM LINE: Great water park, but poor service, limited dining, and high costs make this hard to justify for families. In short: come for the sea lion experience, water park, anquarium and Shake Shack only :-)"
