Very clean and comfortable room equipped with everything. Staff were very helpful which was especially appreciated by me as I was alone for my stay. The food was delicious and served well.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here- my executive room was both spacious and comfortable. The bed was amazingly comfortable and large and the bedding was beautiful too. Decor is pleasing and warm and the room was well equipped. The bathroom had a bath with shower over it - water was very warm and instant and Elemis toiletries were a treat. Check-in was fast and professional and my bag arrived at my room within 2 minutes. I was on the first floor near the spa - there was no view to speak of but that didn't bother me. There is a sort of small vestibule area between the main room door and bedroom door that alleviates any hallway noise. I always think it's the staff that make hotels good or bad- and the staff here were all without exception, exceptional. All so professional, polite and pleasant. A very enjoyable stay.

Very attentive staff. Beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms. Breakfast was exceptionally good. Location perfect for shops and to dine out. Will definitely be returning as soon as can.

If you want any protein for breakfast then the continental that’s included is not for you. The full English is good but it’s £12.50 extra, which is reasonable. Our room was ok, but bathroom was a bit “tired”. As always at Grosvenor, all the staff and service was amazing.

We loved our room - we had a suite, it was amazing apart from the lack of ventilation, which made it a little dusty. Also the hotel appeared under staffed, they had forgotten to give us replacement milk for coffee, it took 2 visits to reception as the phones weren’t manned. Breakfast took a while. Staff didn’t look happy which is so unusual for this hotel.

Very spacious and comfortable room, the bed was huge! Lovely and cosy. This is a very traditional grand hotel in the centre of Chester and was beautifully decked out for Christmas, the level of service was top notch, though we were only there for one night we were very well looked after. The carpark with direct access to the hotel was a bonus as was the complimentary continental breakfast, which was delicious and very generous.

The check in process is a little weird with the desks that they sit you down at and you fill in a few items on a form. As pretentious as they are here, I was expecting a bit more from the rooms. While the outward appearance is ok, the temperature was always too hot in the Winter and we could not get it to cool down no matter how low we set it. The handle on the toilet was practically falling off. The sink was cracked and the handles on the faucet leaked water all over the counter. The shower is mostly open and shoots water all over the bathroom floor. The other thing I noticed is nobody but the doorman seemed very friendly. The cleaning crew never once said hi or good morning in the hallways. The room service guy just walked in and put the tray down and walked out without really saying anything. The best thing about the stay was that the bed was pretty comfortable and it was located centrally in Chester.

I think everyone who books through Expedia must get a view of the air con units. This was no exception. Room ok, bit tired and chilly. Had to hunt for the robes which were in white plastic bags. We ate at The Arkle. Only 5 in the chilly dining room. The food was equally as cold, such a shame as it looks beautiful. We went to the bar after for a drink, but ended up taking it back to our room as we were the only people there, probably due to the temperature. Most of the staff are very friendly and it’s a good location.,would possibly stay there again, but would eat elsewhere…

Spacious room which was spotless. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location in the centre of the main shopping street. Lovely breakfast, plenty of choice and the option of upgrading to a hot breakfast which was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend.
