"A bit cramped but for exploring Funchal the location is excellent- we booked a room with a double bed and got a room with two singles which spoilt our arrival but we got a double bed the next night after contacting Expedia. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but it sufficed"

"The Venezuelan receptionist Susete was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This hotel has charm and character throughout, guests made to feel really welcome, pick fruit from the garden, help themselves to drinks (and pay for them on the honesty sheet), and the complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival was a lovely touch. We were very disappointed that we were only staying for 2 nights in this very highly recommended hotel. Huge choice for breakfast too - magical!"

"Pros - Perfect location (Right in the heart of the old town and restaurants) - Flexible check-in and check-out. - Clean room. - Toilets and kitchen were clean. - The Madeira Cable Car and the public bus hub were just a 5-minute walk away. Cons - The bath was too small, although it was alright. - There was just one dining table with six chairs in the kitchen."
