"On the whole it was a very enjoyable birthday weekend for myself and my wife. One small comment to make is on the Saturday night we opted for the buffet as opposed to the à la carte. The choice and quality weren’t the best but ok, only then to find out when the time came to pay that the costs were the same for the buffet as they were for the à la carte! Bit naughty really. "

On the Sunday morning, we had drinks in the hotel garden which were brought to us by bar staff. The only negative thing was that I had booked a small double room and small it was. "We really enjoyed our stay at The Lakes by Yoo. Everything was clean and well designed and the pool and spa facilities were good. Most importantly the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. There was a minor issue with our original room so they kindly upgraded us to a suite for our final night, which we weren't able to stay in as we had to leave due to a family emergency, but the gesture was greatly appreciated. We hope to visit again in the future! "

"Arrival and check in was all good, restaurant was good great food. We stayed with a wedding party, so we had quite a few rooms. I believe the rest of the parties rooms were fine however my room was on the second floor. We we had suitcases to carry to the second floor, large mother of the bride dresses with a large hat box and accessories. "We had an goid stay at Macdonald Bear Hotel. The staff were excellent throughout, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Our room was a good size and the location is fantastic, especially for exploring Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Breakfast was ok, decent options but limited buffet. The room itself was a little dated and it wasn’t the quietest stay, mainly due to some very loud air con, even though it was turned off but sounded like rushing water. "Room was clean and large enough for 2 adults and a teenager. Sofa bed was a double. No room around the beds but that was fine. Bathroom clean with a good shower, very clean and Dove toiletries. Toilet paper very thin."

"Pub with rooms rather than a hotel. Restaurant menu was 3 pies 2 meat 1 veg served as it came no choice ( nice pie to be fair) not a restaurant! We didn’t have breakfast. Room was clean and functional but beds desperately needed new mattresses and shower was very temperamental. Carpark needs resurfacing potholes dreadful. Property has a good location in a quiet setting with friendly & welcoming staff."
