"The biggest plus of this somewhat outdated hotel on our visit was the staff, unfailingly bright and helpful. Our room, though reasonably well maintained, lacked basic amenities that most chain motels have, such as up-to-date USB connectors bedside (or even power plugs close to the bed; we had to pull out the mattress to plug in our own multi-port travel adapters).
Relatively low room rates do include free parking at a multilevel structure a half block away, and there's no "resort fee" to pad the room rates.
Be aware that in the summer heat the rooftop pool has no shade (but plenty of poolside cover). And it took the air-conditioning a couple of hours to cool down from 80°F to a more comfortable level in our room. Another small annoyance: the icemaker was gone on our floor, and was awkward to use to fill the plastic bags in the food cooler we rely on for rod trips."
