"Our room was clean, spacious and we loved the interior decor. We had a little trouble getting in, however the bar staff were very helpful in sorting that out. As it is above a pub, it was noisy until the pub closed."

When asking the caretaker of the property, she looked confused, said there is no parking included, but that we could park on the street if we could find a bay. There is a multi-story that you can pay to park in a short walk away. So don't expect secure on site parking. "Visited as we had a family funeral with the wake being held at the Bannatyne hotel. As a family we couldn’t recommend it more, we were given a room upgrade which was lovely. Breakfast was excellent with great choice for everyone. Would definitely stay again."

"The superior room was comfortable and led out to a huge quiet garden. But the decking and furniture outside were rotten. The bathroom had an unstable toilet and a difficult shower. Insulation was poor. Presentation on approach wasn’t great, with dead plants everywhere. Having said that, we had a great night’s sleep and staff were friendly and helpful. Location great."

"Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again."

Dirty walls, dirty shower and bathroom, toe nail clippings on bedroom floor. Towels on every bed but 2 with stains. Floors uneven and creak. No chain on door. "We knowingly booked a small room. The room itself was clean and decent enough. It was an extremely hot day so could have done with A/C or at least a better fan than that provided. The bathroom was too tiny to be practical. There was no shelf in the tiny shower and there was not enough room to bend down and pick shower gel off the floor. Overall the price was very reasonable so we were not expecting the world. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable."

"The hotel just next to the beach, beautiful view from the window although the windows can’t be opened, room are clean and bed are comfortable. Limited amenities such as toiletries (toothpaste, bins) no telephone in the room, no fan as well but it’s ok for the price it’s offered.
