Tor Park Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"It didn’t start well when I was left waiting an hour due to a room mix up. I booked and had confirmation for a twin room but was told they only had a single room. The manager did try & help but it was a hotel mistake and not mine. Eventually, was offered a double room on the top floor. The lift didn’t work and the communal areas were so tired. A smell of a certain substance was awful & the main reception area was dirty and tired. The bin was overflowing and loads of flies were around this area. I’m sure this was a nice hotel back in the day but it needs a LOT of money spending on it to make it habitable. It was very cheap so guess can’t complain about the price."

"There are 20 rooms here but the car park has about 7 parking spaces. Be prepared if you have a long drive like I did - because there were no spaces when I got there, I bought myself an extra couple of hours (and a bathroom break) by shopping at the local Morrisons. I was told by the staff of free parking on the weekend but everywhere I went to where they told me to was not free. Eventually I had to park at the railways station which brought me 24 hours parking. The room was -very- humid. I had to open a the window as much as I reasonably could (it has a sign warning that if it’s left open too much the pigeons might get in). TV had basic freeview channels so if you like Ant and Dec, or Law and Order SVU, you’re probably going to be quite entertained. Facilities otherwise ok, towels clean, bathroom clean. Not as many plug sockets as I’d like, I remember there being one, and I had to stretch it from the I had to wait the next day for a parking space to be available in the hotel car park so I got to watch it intermittently until someone left and I could park long term. As for staff helpfulness - I decided to leave early on my last day (the breakfast is ok, not worth staying for if you want to leave earlier for whatever reason), and going downstairs at 0500 there was nobody on reception and no apparent means to contact them. I later went down at 0600 and was nicely checked out by the security guard."

"They didn’t acknowledge our booking with breakfast on the first day but then got fixed on then 2nd day which already our checkout. The sofa bed is not clean if you lift the cushion. Close to the water amd small market."
