"There was only one member of staff there over our 2 day stay & she was really nice and helpful (she seemed to be covering reception, housekeeping & kitchen). Got to say all the public areas could do with a good hoover and the skylight in our room was covered in green algae. Our room was clean (apart from the skylights) but small. Breakfast was really poor for the price we paid. Hotel in general needs a good update as has loads of potential."

"The stay at Sheriff Lodge,Matlock was absolutely excellent.Ziz the Propietor goes above and beyond in every aspect.My Partner and I stayed 20th April- 22nd April,the latter being my Birthday. Ziz popped a Birthday Card on the Breakfast Table discreetly with amazing food on offer and excellently cooked wvery time.Her local knowledge was also above and beyond juxtapose her Hospitality and attentiin to all details. "Ideal location in the heart of Matlock Bath. Staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel and our room were full of character with many period features. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. I would recommend this hotel."

"Accomodation was larger than it looks in the photos, which was a nice surprise. The beds were comfortable, however I would take earplugs as I struggled to sleep due to the cars going past outside. I had to go and buy some from the town centre. At night the cars whizz past really fast. The listing states that there is free parking but this isn’t true- you have to pay for it. I have asked Hotels.com to amend this as it’s false advertising. The reason we booked this hotel was for the free parking!!! Luckily we got parked ok in the train station car park but had to pay £15 per car. In the afternoon however the car park soon fills up and people drive up and down looking for a space. We’d stay here again due the location and the charm of the building. "
