"From the first welcome to the final farewell, it was a joy to stay there. Substantive breakfasts, pet friendly, old manor house setting with great views. Good choice of relatively local (less than 10 miles) public houses for evening fare. Already hoping to get back there when next visiting the Lakes, which start only six miles north."

"Hillsdale was a joy and delight, in an excellent location with great off Road parking. The BnB was spotlessly clean, rooms were homely and cosy all topped off with a great breakfast! Steve and Caz were the best hosts and couldn’t do enough for you. Highly recommend!"

"We stayed five nights at this lovely hotel. Our lake view room was large and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Including a small fridge with bottled water replaced each day. Comfortable bed and great linen. Two comfortable chairs and a table in front of the window made it a great place to relax for a while with a cup of tea. The staff were friendly and efficient. Always a welcome when we returned from a day out. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and two in Ruskins and the food was tasty and well prepared. Also had lunch in the conservatory one day, a good sharing ploughman’s. Breakfast was really good, with lots of choice and hot dishes freshly prepared. We didn’t get to use the spa but it looked very good.
So convenient for the lake cruises, it was lovely to be able to have a day out without the car exploring the lake and towns.
Great setting for visiting the Predator Centre, we had seen about it on the hotel website and booked a walking with wolves experience.
Also just down the road from Beatrix Potters house.

"Stayed 18th April, four of us girls, and it was just the perfect place after a full day hiking.
The room was spacious, clean, and had nice little touches, biscuits, water, milk, which made a difference. Beds were really comfy, exactly what you need after a long walk.
The spa was spot on, swim, sauna, jacuzzi, just what we needed to relax.
Great value as all four of us could stay in one room, which made it more fun and easy.
Staff couldn’t do enough for us, really welcoming and helpful throughout.
Outside area was lovely too, perfect for sitting out and catching a bit of sun.
Would definitely stay again."
"Lovely hotel with ample parking. Easy walk into town for food or a visit to The Theatre on the lake. Excellent breakfast and bar facilities.
The only suggestion I would make is bottled water in the room would be a nice touch."
"I’ve just returned from a night at the hotel. I stayed in a junior suite. I had to speak to the cleaner to give us some toiletries, as he’d forgotten to put them in. The room wasn’t the cleanest either. Very dirty windows amongst other things. The room was spacious. However, the bathroom was very small and dated. I had a horrid sleep. Despite the bed being a cracking size. The mattress was awful. I woke up in the morning with a really sore back. The mattress was ultra soft and overused. I pretty much slept in a ‘V’ position all night Despite the lovely view, you couldn’t see it from the sofa in the room. Even though the sofa was in front of the window. The poor design meant you looked at a thick wooden balcony post. The spa was visually nice. The hot tub was more like a luke warm tub. The pool was freezing. Breakfast was soso. I would describe the English break ingredients as cheap and the continental breakfast as limited and cheap. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend this hotel."
"Breakfast was good and liked the table service. Larger room with balcony was nice and clean. However the bed was a bit uncomfortable and lumpy and the sauna was not working and steam room was only partially working. Pool and jacuzzi all good. Very nice seating areas around bar and would recommend"
"Excellent hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the reception, bar and restaurant were pleasant places to sit eat, drink and relax. Our room was number 20 on the first floor. It was advertised as room with a view of the lake. The view was a bit obstructed, because unfortunately part of our view was the excavation for the new extension, presently being added to the rear of the hotel. Otherwise we had a pleasant 2 night stay and will probably book again, after the extension is complete."
