"Front desk staff was rude at check in, we were given the wrong room, the property is so old the air conditioners and front door were completely rusted out, and the cottage rooms are right next to a huge public park right out the windows and front door. "

"The price point is not justified given the limited amenities, the level of service, and the hidden fees. For a lower price point, this hotel would be justifiable. For about $600 a night, the bar is higher than this property can measure up to. The room is clean and updated. However, there is no glassware, no utensils...just plastic cups. I called room service to ask for proper wine glasses to enjoy a drink in, and they said they don't have any. Absurd. Even lower caliber hotels supply these. I asked for spoons and received plastic spoons and had to wait quite a while for them. Calling the front desk is often met with no answer and the phone ringing endlessly. Many times I was unable to get through to someone. I have never encountered this in a supposedly upscale hotel. The layout is messy and the place feels crowded because it shared the lobby, restaurants, hallways, pools, etc with the Marriott next door. Indeed, this was a standard Marriott that was rebranded as "Royal Sonesta." Parking is an absurd $30 a night for self parking. On top of that, the parking lots are quite full and you spend a lot of time circling around for a spot if you return later at night. Most likely you will park in the furthest lot and have a long walk to your room. They only clean the room every other day. I called to request a daily cleaning and they pushed back and said they only do so every other day. Only after much back and forth did they oblige. Stay elsewhere."

"We were surprised to learn that we ended up at a time share resort. The listing had the word “aparthotel” in small print which is the code for understanding that this isn’t a standard hotel arrangement. Our suite was OK but pretty blah. A second disappointment was that we were put in an accessible suite which meant that the bathroom was unpleasant. And while there is a good restaurant on the property it doesn’t serve breakfast so you need to buy food at their little market or the local grocery store which was recovering from a problem with their refrigeration system. The resort location is close to several great beaches and Hanelei is a prime area to explore. And once we adjusted to the timeshare mode our stay was pleasant. "

"Many great things about this property. Prime location, attentive staff, enjoyable pools and water features to name a few. The building doesn’t have a new feel and we were frustrated by the lack of elevators. Our room had a great view of the pools and the ocean but because of the elevator placement we had to walk over a third of a mile to get to our car in the self park lot. It’s one of the poorest design I have seen. "

"Beautiful view, very quiet. Felt like only ones there. Rooms are a bit small but sufficient. Note we booked here as they had a restaurant but when we checked in we were notified it was closed for renovations and has been a long time. Very disappointed it was not noted on their website. "
