Excellent stay

Great and very kind host. Loved the authenticity of the place.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. Was a real treat to experience their bath and tea ceremony. Breakfast was traditional and tasty and my partner’s vegetarian alternative was just as thoughtfully put together and delicious. Location was a little way out from the main sights, however, this was better as we were in a charming neighbourhood with many authentic buildings and character away from the busy tourist areas. We chose this ryoken based on a friend’s recommendation and I would highly...

An incredible stay, the hosts were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. A unique location unlike anything else.

After some long days sightseeing in Japan it was great to be able to unwind in a little piece of history and tranquility, there can be nothing more relaxing than your own home apart from a night in the Toshiharu Ryokan.

Stayed at the Ohanabo Hokkaikan for two nights, and when we arrived, we were greeted by the sweetest people. They took our luggage to our room whilst we were sightseeing as we arrived early, and upon returning they brought us tea and sweets to welcome us back. They have a public Bath which was very relaxing and we tried dinner at the Ryokan. Seriously... The Best Japanese experience. The futons were laid out for us for the evening which were very comfortable. Breakfast was again very...

We had the most wonderful stay at Yuzuya Ryokan, it provided the true traditional ryokan experience from beginning to end. The staff are so friendly and always willing to help and look after us. The room was huge and so comfortable. And the Japanese breakfast was absolutely delicious. The location was also very conveniently based in Gion, close to the temples in the area and in walking distance to the main Gion district where we found many shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

The hotel and service was first class, definitely recommend and the food was amazing

Friendly staff and amazing location

Fantastic welcome with drinks from very attentitive and friendly English speaking staff. The room was huge and very clean, a very pleasant experience for our first stay at a traditional Ryokan and we would highly recommend to any travellers to Kyoto. Don't miss the breakfast in your room, it's beautifully presented and explained. The location is also perfect and close to the shops. Only let down is Japan's late check-in, but this is normal everywhere, so expect to leave your bags, see some...

Stayed for 4 nights on holiday with late teenage family . The ryokan was superb. Traditional Japanese experience with a super kind attentive atmosphere from a family run business . It may not be for everyone but we loved it !

Amazing place, people, and location!

Worth to stay for a few days as experience

Hotel staff were so friendly and nice to us all, with the limited english skills they had they still made conversation with us and were always smiling and helping us out. The breakfasts were delicious, an amazing sample of traditional Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately we weren’t able to experience their dinner since we did not book three days in advance but I’m sure it would have been just as nice. As for facilities, the shower and bath room are located a short walk from the room with...

The hotel is in an amazing location, especially for Sakura viewing with the shrine/park just behind it and the viewing spots on the river only a short walk away. The hotel staff are friendly and very accommodating, helping me with locating specialised shops in the area and in giving me directions and advice on how to make the most of what was a short trip. The traditional Ryokan rooms are clean, very comfortable and in my opinion beautiful, although the private bathroom facilities are a...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights we had the private residence. Beautiful place, fell in love with it but the moment we stepped foot init
