Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa

"Staff were amazing, hotel was very old though. Just the 1 small lift. Gutters were overflowing when it rained. But location is class. Car parking is a massive issue however that’s not really the hotel fault but Just one to be aware of, although the hotels answer to the parking issue is to charge you £25 to use their car park but even that gets full by 1100. So plan ahead for parking. Breakfast is nice. Overall a good stay with amazing staff but just a very aging hotel with signs money has dried up."

"A really great hotel within easy walking distance of the shops and eateries. Friendly staff, tastt breakfast, our room was comfortable and well-equipped with comolimentary G&T! We had a balcony over looking the gardens and we used the bijou space when we arrived, all rather lovely."

"The room was very clean and well maintained and the comfort of the bed was amazing. Check in staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was Self service but superb. We didn’t use the spa on this occasion as we were there to attend a wedding but have used it previously and it is top notch. My only bug bear is that due to not booking direct I had to pay for parking at £12. This didn’t sit right with me because if using the spa, parking is free, if I had just attended the wedding and had not stayed the night parking would have been free. So then when I give them more custom of staying the night I had to pay because I hadn’t booked directly."

Lakeside Hotel & Spa

"Nice hotel. Great seating outside on the lake and in conservatory- would be better if more seating in conservatory. Pub/bar area itself is very dark and dingy. Seats outside the bar area were nice but not enough - some of the drinks were dear -£16 for a large wine! Food in brasserie was nice and staff nice too. Parking free at the hotel and very close to the lake boats snd train. Lovely place near the lake and would stay there again if in area."

"The staff was very friendly and recommended the sight seeing view points. The breakfast was very good and you have the option to choose the vegan menu. The soundproof was not so good though, we could hear the noice from floors upstairs late night and early morning."
