Feel like this was a missed opportunity at a great hotel! The room was clean but lacked any amenities, additional touches and attention to detail. No room service or details of hotel facilities and also no personal care items that would normally be found in a 5 star hotel. The room layout was such that due to the full length window facing 3 other rooms with the same layout we felt unable to have the curtains open for the 2 nights as you are totally overlooked! Again attention to detail showed that our curtains had rips in the lining that let in light. No vanity mirror at the desk meant I had to sit cross legged on the floor to get ready for the day. I asked at reception for a mirror and unfortunately this was not available. The complimentary bathrobes to use seemed ok but my pocket had a rip/hole in it. The first night we had one brand of water in the room and the second nights the cans were a different brand and were dented and dirty, so much so we didn’t touch them. The use of the swimming pool was an additional £50 per person that we unfortunately had not noted when booking the hotel and felt a little aggrieved to pay the extra so cannot comment on that. The hotel and building is beautiful but lacks the touches that make it 5 star and there are other hotels in the area that offer more for less money. Massive shame and a missed opportunity.
