"Lovely hotel in the middle of the city. Comfy bed and VERY quiet! The restaurant on-site is fairly reasonably priced, and the fish & chips were very good. There is a river adjacent outdoor bar that looked nice too.
I never made it down to breakfast because I wanted to get out-and-about as soon as woke up, so no clue how that was."
"A beautiful property with great amenities and a wonderful location! Don’t miss the bar and the Wigmore pub on site. Staff was very helpful! Would definitely stay again when in London!"
"Staff were excellent
Rooms smallish but very well planned and good facilities
Breakfast was very good
Only complaint - bar closed at 11 so when we came back at night we couldn’t sit with our friends and have a coffee or drink inntnhe lounge "
"Had to change rooms 3 times as it sounded like someone was taking a shower in my room in each one. Took over an hour to get a room sorted. Lots of school trips staying with only one person on reception. Free shuttle ferry to Canary Wharf was great."
"This is an older hotel that has had a facelift / updating. When you first walk in you definitely smell all of the air fresheners that they have going all the time. Not unpleasant but if you have issues with scents, this will give you a headache.
- Checking in is a very slow process. Bring your patience because you're going to need it.
- The lifts are slow and are handling a lot of traffic. More patience here.
- The doorways to the rooms are oddly small/compact. I had issues bringing a very standard-sized (not large) piece of luggage through it.
- The bed was too soft in my opinion. I don't know if it's just sagging due to age or if they actually bought mattresses that sink like that but it definitely wasn't memory foam.
- Water pressure in shower was awesome and had plenty of hot water.
- Had dinner in their restaurant and my main (Grilled Chicken with Creamy Tarragon Sauce) was exceptional. However, my Lemon Creme Brulee had to be sent back as it was the consistency of soup.
- Please know that they will automatically add a 12.5% service charge on the bill. This is OPTIONAL but they do not tell you that.
*They provide you with a bus schedule to get to the airport. It is 6.8 pounds per person, but does come to the front door. However, if you go to the bus stop just down the street a few hundred feet, you can ride the 423 (if going to Terminal 5) for 1.75 pounds. I'm not certain why they are promoting a bus that is close to 4X the cost of a normal one."
"While the location is perfect, the hotel lacks security upgrades. STG has been my go-to hotel for over 20 years. However, lacks appreciate security measures. An individual could potentially walk off the street right up to the room. The room door remains without additional security measures.
The self check-in is an upgrade in technology with supportive personal for thouse who may experience challenges. This however appears to be the only visible improvement."
