"Wow! We wanted to stay somewhere walkable to York city centre that also had parking for our hire car and Monkbridge exceeded all our expectations. The warm and informative welcome, the comfortable and beautifully renovated rooms, the cooked to order breakfast, the overall service and all the little extras and touches made our 2 night stay amazing. Thanks so much to our hard working hosts who have also painstakingly restored the building into an amazing B&B! "

"Booked the Miricia 4 months in advance for my wife's birthday, paid extra for the best room with stunning sea view only to be told when we arrived that the hotel had been vacant since January but no one could be bothered to inform me otherwise I would have rearranged or cancelled for a later date, I'm absolutely disgusted that the owner couldn't find the time to inform me in 4 months, pathetic. If it wasn't for Shelley at the phoenix court hotel who was brilliant our break would have been...

"Property was perfect for the price. Clean and welcoming. Shower was nice and the bed was comfortable. I was able to get in touch with the management on arrival. Tap in the ensuite was cold and despite running for a while, did not produce hot water. The building was subject to some noise pollution and you could clearly hear other guests in other rooms. Other than that, I would book again."

"Just back from South Lodge and want to say thank you very much to Steve & Tony. We arrived early and the rooms were ready, they were spacious, clean, beds were comfy the decor was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of and not for the fainthearted. Parking at the property spot on as you dont always have that luxory. Well stocked Tea & Coffee in the room and the homemade cookies were very tasty and a chocolate finished off the welcoming. Toiletries were top quality. Nothing was too much...

"Emma contacted me unprompted to see what time I would be arriving, which was a nice courtesy. Enjoyed a nice slice of homemade cake with my tea upon arrival. Nice touch! My single room was ideal for a solo overnight stay. Comfortable and warm. Excellent breakfast included plenty of tempting options, all served in the spacious breakfast room. I would highly recommend Waves."
