Not sure where to start from the moment we got there Catherine was so welcoming and friendly then we got to see the gorgeous country cottage style kitchen if you wanted to use kitchen facilities then the stunning bedroom with very tasteful decor and and tea & coffee making facilities in the room, elegant bathroom with spacious walk in shower. "Place old and weatherd- The stairs are narrow and steep- no lift. Water stain on roof in hallway. Room smelled like urnin. bathroom door is so heavy. good location and friendly staff"

"Sadly, this was a bad experience. I booked via Expedia where the hotel was advertising a Michelin trained chef and a restaurant. I travelled solo 145 miles for a two night break purely because of this. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to learn the restaurant closed last year. I expressed this disappointment in very civil tones, explaining this was the only reason for my visit. I asked the owner Stacie if I could therefore cancel my second night and obtain a partial refund for it. Stacie agreed...

"Apple House has it's own carpark behind the building. It is also perfectly located to walk into York through Micklegate Bar. Takes about 10 minutes. Just be aware that there is no lift if you overpacked like I did ! Great hosts and lovely breakfast. I would definitely stay here again"

"- The shale beach across the road was the most amazing I have ever seen. - The menu is misleading. My husband wanted NO ALCOHOL beer because he is allergic to alcohol. The NO ALCOHOL beer on the menu said 0.0% alcohol. What arrived was what the waitress said was NO ALCOHOL but it actually was 0.5% alcohol. We sent it back, and I did tell the waitress the menu was incorrect and that she should mention it to management, but she did not seem interested in doing anything about it."
