"We booked for 5 nights so that we could explore the area, having never visited north east England previously. The location suited our purpose very well. The breakfasts were good and the staff made sure that all dishes were kept well filled; my one suggestion for meal improvement concerns the fixed all day menu. Whilst I understand the convenience (for the hotel) of having a fixed unchanging menu (except for the specials which were not available every evening) it does not suit guest who stay...

"Great stay, really good amenities at this hotel - dedicated carpark, centrally located, room has iron and board, hairdryer, robe and slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body and hand wash, close up mirror with light, tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast had continental and choice of hot food plus tea/coffee and refill. Hotel is definitely aesthetically pleasing from inside. It's not too busy and quiet at times which makes it feel relaxing and chilled. Definitely part of highlight."

"I love the hotel but what I did not like this time was, I was not allocated a room until I arrived. So I ended up with a disabled room. I don’t know if it was because I was a solo traveller or maybe they thought I would not arrive or even because I did not pay until I arrived. It took about 10 minutes to check in when the person next to me checked in , in 2 minutes. Apart from that I like staying at the Maldron."
