"While this is a beautiful old hotel, it does come with some issues. The HVAC in our room did not work. We asked 3 times to get fixed. Luckily the windows can open but the street noise was very loud. The shower was nice but water splashed everywhere due to the small glass door and very slippery. Dated but full of charm. Not a 5 star but perhaps a 4."

"This hotel is located within the free tram zone and boasts a prime location right across from Queen Victoria Market. I had planned to just whip up a simple dinner in my room, but since the place even had a full-size oven, I was able to enjoy cooking with locally sourced ingredients I bought at the market. All the staff were friendly. I’ll definitely stay here again the next time I visit Melbourne."

"To be honest, we had a few issues during our stay. The first room we were allocated had air-conditioning that made loud noise and TV didn’t work. We were moved to another room for our second night only after I asked in the morning and followed up again in the afternoon, which was OK. "all was good until we went to have breakfast. i was well aware that i was going to pay for my breakfast but the lady that was taking room numbers while walking into the area for breakfast said it load enough for all to hear that because we did not book to include breakfast that we would have to pay for it. both me and my husband were so embarressed and humiliated that we walked out. Also our room for the four days that we were there was never vacumed. I mentioned this to the front desk on day 2."
