"Partial ocean view as promised. Food good but not outstanding and food prices were ridiculously high ( $60) for breakfast buffet. It was nice but very busy and noisy at times because of so many people. Nice luxury hotel but didnt always feel like the relaxed pace we have expected from Hawaii."

"This is an older property without any modern touches—but it was clean, well-maintained, peaceful and the view from our balcony was spectacular. It was convenient having the the restaurant nearby which had a lively vibe, great food and staff— and a plaza with small shops a short drive away. "

"All of staff was very friendly through out the whole stay. Very accommodating when it came to extending day for late check out since my flight was at 9pm. Grounds were kept up even when first Kona low came through. "

"I have stayed here twice and have enjoyed both visits. You cannot beat the proximity to the water and the staff is always pleasant. Additionally, we really love having two bathrooms when traveling with large groups. Pros- proximity to beach, onsite ability to rent beach chairs and snorkeling gear, the hot tub, proximity to food/doctor/grocery store, and larger air conditioned rooms for families. "We had a wonderful stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I loved how we were sent text messages of any updates or information on daily activities. Looks slightly outdated but currently under renovation. The food and drinks were great. We Will stay here again. "

"10/10 hotel honestly. The last 2 times in Maui we stayed next door at the Westin for double the price. The Whaler is clean and has kitchens in the unit so you save a ton of money on breakfast, coffee, and snacks by having it in your room. Staff was friendly, grounds were clean, and parking was free. It's $50 per day at the Westin. We'll definitely be back. "

"Stayed here due to its proximity to the airport, but would not stay here again. Upon arrival, we were notified that the room we booked (a king room) was not available, so we were placed in a 2 double bed room which was disappointing. On our walk to the room, as soon as we entered the older building, it smelled wet and moldy. When we got settled into the room, it was small and very dated. "Was threatened by a group of local kids who were extremely drunk had a gun on them and they surrounded me and 6 other people cussing and trying to get us to fight them while we were in a hot tub. Would not come back! Also the one pool bar here made awful drinks that were hard to drink and overpriced. "

"Overall, a nice place to stay. Room was nice. Pools were nice. Right on a good section of beach. Free valet services, but the valets were hard to find at the desk and a little slow. It also does seems a little odd that they’re still not cleaning rooms as if we are still worried about Covid. Not even an offer to clean the room or replace towels, soap, toilet paper, etc in the week we were there. Also, a little odd that you keep the “spa” in your name when it is shut down and not opening...

"The resort was good. Great location. Maui Brewery onsite was awesome. Beach walk, Black Rock and access to the beach made this an ideal stay."
