I stayed at Ibis Styles Paris Gare de l’Est and had one of the most stressful hotel experiences I’ve ever had. At midnight, the wall-mounted hairdryer in my room overheated dangerously and could not be unplugged. The staff on duty (temporary hire) managed to contact the manager, but the only “solution” offered was to give me tape to cover it. Despite my concerns about a potential fire hazard, I was told the hotel was fully booked and nothing else could be done. Shockingly, they even asked me what I wanted to do about it, instead of taking responsibility for guest safety.
To make things worse, at 7am the next morning, the fire alarm went off for no reason. There was no explanation, no apology, and no reassurance from staff.
While the temporary staff tried their best within their limits, the management’s response to safety concerns was unacceptable. I’ve stayed in many hotels before, but I’ve never experienced such disregard for guest safety and comfort. I cannot recommend this hotel.
