"Easy journey to Marco Polo airport from the Carnival hotel on the Aliaguna water bus to Guglie a short walk from the hotel. Lots of good restaurants and aperitif places on the canal outside the hotel. Easy access to all the main sites from Tri Archi vaporetto stop outside the hotel. Much cheaper to get a two or three or more days, water bus pass for as many journeys that you want to take each day. Good safe local neighbourhood to wander about including evenings."

"Ugh got the 1st floor - traveling solo I always try to avoid for safety. But they were full - claimed I was upgraded to bigger room - I would have rather kept my single small one up higher. But worse - the first floor is a dark like a basement. The windows are darkly frosted so no view no light no idea weather outside let alone natural light. may as well not had any windows. Horrid would never go back."

"The hotel is a former Palazzo. Everything about it is impeccable. The staff knows you by name. The food is excellent. The location is perfect, far enough away from the crowds but close enough that everything is within walking distance would definitely stay there again when I go back to (Venice)"

"Venice is one of those complicated cities to navigate so it's hard to optimize for the "best location". It was a bit of a long walk and lots of stairs from the train station and bus terminal. Even if you take a vaporetto it's a winding walk through the streets---only a taxi could get you conveniently to this hotel. "Location was great - 12 minute walk to the train station. Their breakfast is a normal European breakfast - light. The room had AC without a locked temperature which was great because we could put it to as cold as we wanted. Issue: There was sooo many fruit flies in our room. Extremely welcoming and courteous staff—Giovanni was at the property every day to answer our questions and was genuinely friendly and helpful. The only slight downside for our stay was a very noisy family with a baby in the room above ours—the sound really travels in this building, just like most older buildings in Venice—however this wasn’t a big issue for us and was not the fault of the hotel. "Lovely hotel, previously stayed when it was Lacanda san Barnaba and the upgrade is really great, whilst still keeping the originsl ceiling frescos and other features. Great new updsted bathrooms. Great communal areas as well as fab breakfast. Only slight niggle was not much hanging space and no drawers but easily manageable. Overall a great stay"
