"Breakfast my my favorite. Traditional Japanese style every day. I miss it now that I'm home. Rooms were very clean and new towel and toiletries were provided every day. The staff was excellent. Friendly and attentive. The option to to laundry helped a lot."

"Very clean room. Nicely appointed with modern style. Mattresses were much too soft for my liking and actually slid around the bed. Great water pressure for shower. Complimentary beverages were great. Laundry is available on site but because of the combo washer/dryer design, clothes just didn’t come out dry. Nice exercise room with high end equipment."

"Great place. Communication is a little tough due to the language barrier. The gentleman they leave in charge overnight doesn’t know how to use the POS system so I was unable to buy a commemorative stamp for my stamp book before my super early check out (early flight). But I can honestly say I was amazed. The place is a Ghibli Studio film brought to life. As serene as you can imagine and the staff was super attentive. Truly a pleasure."

"Of the nine different hotels and ryokans we stayed at, this was our favorite place to stay. The location was gorgeous and the staff was the friendliest and most helpful we encountered. This location is up in the mountains so it doesn't have many tourists. We were able to to walk to three different nearby shrines/temples in about 2-3 hours and saw only 4 other people. This was the most relaxing part of our 2 week trip. The dinner and breakfast was exceptional but the staff and location is why we picked this hotel as our favorite place of our trip. I would absolutely stay here again. If you are looking for a place to relax in a mountain setting this is the place to stay!"

"Muni Kyoto is a small boutique hotel with friendly staff and is conveniently located. Our second floor room has beautiful views of Arashiyama with large floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony. The hotel and rooms have a modern and minimalist design so that the focus is on the natural scenery outside. Breakfast has multiple courses and is delicious, especially their freshly baked croissants. The dining experience is generally calm and relaxing with the views of Arashiyama."

"The hotel was good overall and had a convenient location. The room size was actually quite good for Japan, which was a nice surprise. The hotel itself felt a bit old and could use some renovation. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t controllable—although they informed us about this from the beginning and even provided a fan at check-in, which helped. Cleanliness was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a pleasant stay."
