"The staff was great at check-in. The hotel is in desperate need of renovation and a deep clean, feels as if it has been forgotten. The most bizarre piece of this trip was the lamp in our room not having a plug near it. Just a lamp unplugged in the corner."

"This is a very budget motel. I was only staying one night, but there was no dresser or closet or even a shelf, if I wanted to unpack anything from my bag; just two hooks on the wall over the table. The motel had a very dingy feel to it-- not dirty, per se, but dingy. Stains on the ceiling, cigarette burn in the blanket. No tissue box. "This is a charming inn with two different old houses. It’s well located and has a fabulous breakfast that’s included. Two things I would say for house we were in. One, there is no indoor sitting area. Our room, while quite large, had only a small love seat and the common area was not decorated to accommodate sitting. "Good to have parking. A good perk is free parking. The basement level has a beautiful library and conference room that looks like the hull of a ship. The restaurant in the hotel is good but pricey. The Nathaniel Hawthorne clam chowder is a small bowl and expensive....Walking distance to many things. Rooms are small and the bed fills up most of the room. No view to speak off. But it is a heritage hotel and the connection to Hawthorne was why I stayed. The staff were pleasant and helpful."

"Not really a fan of the whole digital thing....but the property is cute. Expedia indicated the room had a fridge, but apparently you have to rent them in advance ($50+). Luckily, they were able to have one brought in... complimentary, since it was for my meds."
