"I stayed at this hotel as a quick retreat before embarking on a cruise. Unfortunately, my experience began poorly during check-in. The front desk associate made multiple mistakes within the first few minutes, but after a long day of travel, I remained patient and understanding, as everyone makes mistakes.
After checking in, I went to the room number that was verbally provided to me and also written on my key card envelope. When my key did not work, I returned to the front desk and explained the issue. The staff reprogrammed the key and assured me that everything was correct.
I returned to the room, settled in, and began showering after a very long travel day. To my surprise, while I was in the shower, I heard a male voice enter the room. It turned out that the hotel had assigned the same room to another guest. While the gentleman was apologetic and clearly had no ill intentions, this was an extremely invasive situation and a serious lapse in guest safety and privacy.
What made the experience even more concerning was the response from the front desk when I reported what had happened. Rather than taking accountability, I was told that the mistake was my fault because the associate had allegedly given me the correct room number. When I showed them the room number written on the key card envelope, I was then told that the associate “writes the two numbers the same.”
The lack of accountability and concern for the seriousness of the situation left me feeling unsafe."
