"Very helpful staff and the view of the pagoda from the room is great. Also loved having a coffee stand right outside the hotel. Downside is 99% of taxi drivers won’t want to drive directly to the hotel, so you’ll have to drag your luggage up the hill through crowds of people."

"I highly recommend staying here. The location was perfect as a tourist staying close to the main sights in the Gion area of Kyoto. I was able to see Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka with very few people around without getting up too early. The hotel itself was beautiful and comfortable, despite the smaller size. I was worried about it being too small for three American adults, but we all fit comfortably and made it work for our stay there. It’s a great combination of old and new; it looks and feels like...

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes.
However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though.
The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

"We were recommended this hotel by some old friends who stayed here last year. Admittedly we had a lovely corner suite which helped enormously but loved the hotel.
Spotlessly clean and lovely room. Great staff.
The only VERY MINOR gripes were the bar shut earlier than expected so just as we got back from dinner, and were unable to get a 'night cap' before bed. The second even more minor was issue could be that it was very obviously a tourist hotel - everyone was Western with copious amounts of...
