"Soon as we walked in it smelt like an old peoples home, fusty and old - in need of a good clean. Walls are paper thin, only one pillow each. Bathroom was awful, dirty toilet. Check in was easy enough and we didnt really use the amenities. The only reason we didnt leave and go somewhere else is because it was dirt cheap and we were only staying as it was close to the airport for a early flight. So really you get what you pay for but wouldnt recommend or go back"

"The bathroom was lovely and great toilet paper quality and towels, nice toiletries too. Nice tea tray and bed was comfy. However there was a gaping hole filled with cobwebbed pipes and the view out of the window was over bins. The room was cold but a portable heater was provided and sufficient. Dinner was great, the food was of an acceptable quality but the star of the show was the staff that served dinner. They were not intrusive, but were so helpful, a great steady pace of service. "Welcome was first class. Room very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Not disturbed by other guests. Welcomed to breakfast and staff very courteous. Cooked breakfast was very good. Would stay again. Many thanks. "

"We were refused service at the restaurant, when we told staff we were willing to wait they said no point you probably won’t get a table. Then we asked if we could eat in our room and they said no. Effectively giving us no food options we had to order pizza as we are unfamiliar with the area and there was nothing within walking distance."

"I only write this review as there was no one on reception when I left at 7am. The shower head in room 26 needs replacing, or possibly fixing. It is an odd design which I’ve not seen before but water gushes out from all angles, making it difficult to have a shower whilst the bathroom ends up a watery mess. I only booked an accessible room as it was the cheapest option but anyone with a disability would struggle with this. Urgent fix required for the next occupant. Otherwise the usual comfortable...

"We enjoy staying at the Holiday Inn. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. Everything is clean. The breakfast buffet is constantly renewed with fresh food. Parking easy even when we have to bring out van Will choose to stay there next time we go to York"

"Dated furniture and decor. Room was comfortable and clean. Very quiet, you wouldn't think you were only yards from a main road. Ample car parking. Bus stop just outside main gate with plenty of buses into city centre. Breakfast was excellent. "
