"The host was amazing. He contacted us to see what time to expect us. Whenever we walked up he was at the door to welcome us and show us around. We loved everything about our stay. Now understand that this is a traditional Japanese home. My family enjoyed the experience. "There are so many cute little touches to this hotel! In our room, there is a beautiful rice crackers package and a handmade folded crane for good luck! When at the front desk there was yummy mochi for guests to try! Oishii! So good! There is a dining area on the left you can sit and drink ice water and hot tea if you are staying at the hotel. "My daughter and I stayed here for one night and stayed in the Japanese style room. It was very comfortable and we had the traditional breakfast in the morning. The food was ok it wasn't to my daughters liking, but I enjoyed mine. The only negative I could say is that Expedia did not inform us of the extra $90CAD we had to pay for the Tourist Tax. Apart from that the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is very clean and well maintained."

"It was great. The employees were very helpful. Couldn’t have asked for better customer service. We would definitely stay there again. The only downfall was the AC system but it’s probably just because we are not use to Japan heat. Overall this place is AMAZING! "

"Hotel was great, and very cheap for the space. It’s not luxurious but very comfortable. Good beds. Mini apartment really with little kitchenette. Staff attentive and had good English. Great location for monkey park (steep climb, be warned). Arashiyama is beautiful. Bamboo forest is pretty close at about 10-15 minutes walk away. Convenience store 300m away, right next to Hankyo railway (Arashiyama station) into Kyoto centre. I recommend Mizuki (very Kyoto-authentic restaurant); it’s a gem. "
