"I had booked a 4 night stay for some r&r choosing to stay in the manor house. My 1st day there was a wedding being held at the Manor House, some facilities not available or restricted. I had not been informed of this event, my day of r&r sadly not forthcoming. An outdoor pool was not available, in the middle of a heatwave, apparently our of season in July. The rooms I was able to enter in the manor house are tired and need a refresh, my room had black mould in the bathroom, a ceiling extractor...

"Room tired, very hot as upstairs. No fan, ironing board or iron. No mini fridge to store cold drinks. Room very small, uneven floor with shower over the bath. Staff were nice and friendly. Bar and restaurant not great. Ran out of glasses, coffee machine was broken. Food ok but not great. items not available at 6pm on a Friday evening. Breakfast items not available."

"The Royal Oak Inn is situated in a lovely area. It was easy for us to park. On arrival which was somewhat late, there was no one to look after us. I got the attention of someone in the kitchen who alerted the manager. We were given our room key and on arrival in the room I noticed that there was quite a bit of hair in the sink and some in the bathtub as well. "The property seems to be family owned and seemed to be run a bit slap dash. The pictures online have had some photo shopping and first impressions were a bit of a letdown. Staff were thin on the ground and some were inexperienced in hospitality. The room was clean and tidy, although we did look in a suite which looked really nice so I would suggest you book one of these if you go.
