"The hotel was great - the room was of a good size, and (importantly for us) had a room safe. Location was a stone’s throw from the rail station, so super handy to get to & from other places… Aeon Mall for shopping just a few minutes away on foot; also there is a convenience store built into hotel! Breakfasts were really good, we got to try some things we’d never heard of in the UK. Staff very helpful. Unexpected bonus - hotel provided very comfortable pyjamas! Also, the hotel had several washing machines (we were on a month long Asia trip, so definitely needed), which you could monitor from your TV. We really want to visit Japan again, and Kyoto in particular, and would definitely book this hotel again. Highly recommended!"

"They don’t have spa…. The massage service is only offered in the room, which may not be ideal for guests traveling with children. It’s difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience without a dedicated spa or massage are"

"The room was spacious (we got upgraded, which was a plus!) wonderful shower, and the blackout curtains were great. The beds were a little more firm than I’m used to, but overall, it was a wonderful stay!"

"My wife and I only stayed for one night as we were doing a two day mini-trip from Tokyo. The staff was very friendly and helped us get situated. The Japanese-style room was well maintained and clean. We were given robes, sandals, and hot tea. They have a free drink bar throughout the day, but do not have coffee in the morning unless you pay breakfast. Overall great experience would absolutely book again for a short stay."

"I've stayed at many Smile hotels in the past. This one has much smaller rooms! Other than great, it has a GREAT staff, very friendly and helpful! It's near the Kyoto Station. It's very easy to find, as it is in the direction where the Kyoto Tower is. When you get out of Kyoto Station's main/central entrance FACING the Kyoto Tower, with the station behind you, walk straight up for 4-5 minutes on the left side of the street/boulevard. You should be passing the huge temple on your left hand, and you should be on the same side of the street as the temple is. The hotel is literally right after the metro exit, like 5 steps after the metro exit of the Gojo stop. You can take the metro back and forth between the hotel and Kyoto Station. It's just ONE stop! Get off the Gojo stop and remember to take the correct exit to end up next to the hotel! Say "Hi!" to the staff member and mention "Anime Power!" to the staff members. They will know what it means :-) Thanks, Smile Hotel!"

"This hotel was not only convenient but it was a truly world class stay from professionalism, charm and formal yet quite comfortable. The breakfast was top notch and the staff were such lovely people! Book here because the price is incredible for the service!"

"Ok so let me start, the location of this hotel is accent and I don’t think it can be beat, the breakfast was top notch and actually the best hotel breakfast we had on our trip. There’s really nothing bad can say about this hotel, staff was very friendly and tried to help with any question I had.. so pretty much 10/10"
