"We have used APA Hotels frequently and in general we have been very pleased with the service and the facilities. However, the Kyoto Eki Horikawadori did not live up to my previous expectations of APA hotels. First, the size of the bathrooms in the rooms were excessively small and extremely uncomfortable to use for anyone taller that 5 feet & 5 inches or 165.1 cm. This was very poor planning. Second, during our stay, the wife of my cousin who was staying with us needed a little extra space in order to do some exercises that her doctor had recommended. She did them in the evening in a remote part of the hallway, doing her best to ensure that she did not inconvenience anyone. As far as we know, no one complained or even noticed, but one of your staff was extremely rude and insisted that she not do the exercises in the hallway and even threatened to have her evicted. We feel that the attitude of the employee was very inappropriate and showed no understanding of the situation. Hence, our rating of this APA hotel is barely adequate."

"I wish they put as much effort into the rooms as the lobby, the lobby is beautiful. The floors were a bit dirty and the walls. The staff wasn’t too helpful, great location for some things like Niju castle and Fushimi Inari. Overall lobby 5 stars, rooms three stars, staff three to four depending on who you ask."

"We liked the fact that the sink was separated from the shower and toilet. The pajamas were also useful. We liked the location of the hotel as well."

"The room was very small, as was the bathroom. I was surprised that the hotel did not provide water to drink. No bottled water or a station to fill our water bottles. This was a very different experience to the hotel we had in Tokyo. Water is a basic necessity, the hotel should look into their policy on this."

"The first room we had was dirty so they quickly changed us to a clean room. They are militant about taking your shoes off here, we loved the free dessert bar, but overall the hotel was absolutely packed with tourists and kind of crazy. The staff, however, went above and beyond to take care of every need we had. The rooms are small for us Americans but the bed was comfortable. "

"Super comfortable western style beds and pillows. Rooms are small but beautifully designed. The breakfast is as great with lots of international choices. Close to gorgeous Japanese gardens."

"This is one of my favorite hotels in Japan. We usually stay at the club level and the staff at the lounge are extremely helpful. The concierge service are wonderful. They food at the lounge is delicious and nicely presented. We definitely will be back to this hotel. "
