"Beautiful setting near a canal, room was lovely a huge bed! Slept really well, staff so friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely in the restaurant staff very helpful, definitely be going back there and recommend to my friends."

"Breakfast was excellent, staff helpful and friendly. The superior double room was much nicer than the standard double and worth paying the small extra amount for. We had our 2 dogs and hotel is very dog friendly although the £25 per dog per night was a bit steep. Hotel is well located right in the middle of Penkridge, Saturday market is brilliant. We would return."

"Hottest day in May on record and the heating was on in my room. After speaking with staff three times and an hour and a half later, I was moved to another room. In spite of the wonderful advert featuring a restaurant I was told no kitchen tonight. Second room was very noisy overlooking the car park which doubles as a camping ground for motor homes, with ten present. No mattress cover and a very dirty mattress. "This is a nice hotel, situated within the racecourse. We stayed during very hot weather and the whole building was lovely and cool. The room was a good size and clean. We stayed as a family of 4, the room hadn't been set up to accommodate for that - we only had two towels and no bedding for the pull out - but when we contacted reception this was resolved very quickly. The only thing I think really needs improvement is breakfast, there was hot food and toast but it would be nice to have more...
