"I love this hostel and have been using them for a few years now. Unfortunately, I've noticed a decline in the cleanliness during my last few stays. A few of the bathrooms, including the stalls in the women's restroom, were out of toilet paper. I'm not sure what changed but I do recall they had a cleaning crew that would clean the hostel in the mornings. Not sure if that is still being done."

"Stayed at a handful of hostels and this one's in a class of its own. Bunk beds are comfortable and private, with plenty of lockable storage underneath. The space is clean, warm, and genuinely well put together. Staff are friendly and they set the tone for the place. Taco Tuesday is not to be missed. Easy in and out, free parking just a block away. And the location speaks for itself."

"Great location to dog beach. Convenient to freeway and ocean beach area. However, if you want a well kept and clean hotel this isn’t the place. There is no daily cleaning unless you ask. Bath towels are crusty and old. The air conditioner is a wall mount unit and very loud. We had a cockroach in the room and a trail of ants. The price is not that low considering you pay for parking nightly and for each pet in the room. Those added up make it just as expensive as Other dog friendly hotels. ...

"Pros: Close to our destinations (SeaWorld, beach), free breakfast, plenty of parking, full-sized twin rollaway bed for our third guest, mini fridge and microwave in our king bedroom. Cons: shampoo, conditioner, and body wash required 100+ pumps to produce even the most average amount of product for use. Extremely frustrating."
