The lake and mountain views were worth the price alone. The Ryokan itself is very beautiful and traditional, the tatami and sliding paper doors made it feel like we had gone back in time. The onsen is nice and note that it is for separate male and female, so if you want to share the experience with family or partner you may not be able to. The restaurant was great with good service and meal options. The staff were so attentive and looked after us well.
Small criticism was the room had a few stains on cupboards and floors, and the shower hose had a small hole which leaked onto the floor when showering.
Overall a good experience and would recommend.
Staying at this property was truly an incredible experience. My wife and I (American tourists visiting Japan for the first time) stayed here for 3 nights. The staff was so friendly, especially the wonderful staff in the 6th floor restaurant. Our room, a 12-tatami was spacious and comfortable with a great view of the lake and mountains. Each room comes equipped with everything you need to make green tea and wake up with the sun. The 6th floor restaurant boasts views of Mount Fuji on a clear day with excellent food and service. The public bath is comfortable, clean, and hot! 10/10 experience.
As for the area around the hotel, we were so amazed by the quiet, lush, and serene town of Tokorozawa. We walked to a Seibu Lions baseball game, the forest that inspired Totoro, and several local parks. It was a great experience of “small town” Japan that is very different from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo city.
