Very convenient location in a busy area near Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). It is right downtown, so even though there is visible homelessness, there is also ton of people and students in the area. Great small restaurants all around the area and included breakfast at hotel was great -friendly servers. No stopping place to drop off luggage for check in was the most stressful thing about the location - except in the coach bus area. Rooms are small but bathrooms were recently renovated. Gently closing hotel doors is great - so no banging doors.

Clean and very comfortable rooms, very convenient location near a subway station, lots of restaurants nearby, including an excellent one right in the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful, there's a pool, a bar/lounge area, a gift shop right in the hotel lobby. Highly recommended!

My room was clean but small. The problem was that there was no water in the hotel due to a planned water outage...why were guests not notified? Because of this you could not shower, have a drink at the bar etc. etc. When it came back it was cold of course as it had to heat up. The breakfast was expensive for what you received...it was just an ordinary buffet that you can get in most other hotels for free. $40.00 a night for parking is absurd!! If the property knew they were going to have a bunch of disgruntled guests why was there no manager on the property??? Just a poorly run hotel.

My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express during our recent trip to Toronto. First off, the good points. The breakfast that was included with our reservation (through Expedia) was phenomenal. Usually, continental breakfasts are decent at best, but this was more of a buffet / restaurant style with waitstaff. And there was a huge variety of breakfast foods to choose from. Also, there were security measures in place where you had to use your key card to enter the stairwell, pool area / gym and access the lobby bathrooms and choose a floor in the elevator. We didn't have much interaction with the staff, except for the front desk, and they were very helpful. The downside - lots of construction in and outside of the building. Of course I understand that upgrades need to take place but 1) we never saw anyone working on these projects 2) they looked more like "abandoned jobs" and 3) they were very unappealing and in some cases a pain the butt. Also, our room had to be the absolute smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was almost claustrophobia inducing. Honestly, there was hardly any space to navigate the room. Even our eight-year-old, who is very tiny, had to love the desk chair out of the way to get on the other side of the bed. There was only a few feet from the end of the bed to the opposite wall. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels, no vent and very little counter space. For that reason alone, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.

Bar selection was very limited. Bar staff was not welcoming at all. Elevators are slow and constantly packed stopping on every floor. Restaurant food was frozen Tyson nuggets. Rooms were dirty. First room looked like a ran down motel, stains on the walls, shower curtains, bedding, just everywhere. Also had an old rug smell to it. We were moved to a second room and given a voucher for $80 to have dinner. While the voucher was appreciated, the rooms were still below standard/ expectations. I will not be staying at another Holiday Inn as I feel the reputation has declined alongside service and hospitality. Everything felt cheap

Yesterday from 9 pm to this morning 9 am there was no water in the room. This means no shower, no brushing teeth and no flashing the toilet . When the water was back this morning , it was impossible to take a shower because not even warmth water. I checked out not being able to shower. I have a long international flight today before reaching my final destination and be able to wash. This has never happened to me . I travel a lot and work in LDC countries. Hotel staff were not honest enough to tell me last night that the water won’t be available until the next morning . This morning none of then mentioned that warm and hot water will be available only after few hours. I request a reimbursement for the night .

The staff were friendly and helpful. But I was in the Accessible room as I am handicapped and use a wheeled device. Big picture: the bathroom was too small. I had to wheel into the shower in order to close the door. Then I had to wheel out to get to the small sink that was behind the door. Way too small!. The room was too narrow and only had room for an end table on one side of the bed. I could barely role in beside the bed in order to transfer. There was no built-in seat in the shower. Nor was there a portable seat in the narrow shower stall. I had to ask for one, but I had to explain the requirement multiple times to to the housekeeping rep as he didn't know what I was talking about. He finally brought me a plastic seat that sufficed for our one night stay. There should have been a seat in the shower stall beforehand. I guess they presumed that I would just wheel into the shower and then shower while sitting in my wheelchair!?! When designing an accssble room, get advice from a handicapped person, not an architect!

Everything was good except when considering parking. I'm accustomed to a parking lot or garage but this parking garage was full when I checked in. My car would not have fit anyway (I drive a pickup truck) as the max height allowance is 5' 7" and my truck needs 6' 6" clearance. There was an overflow that accommodated my truck but there is no access to the garage from inside the hotel. It wasn't a terrible outcome but it would have been better had I known ahead of time during booking. Hot breakfast was included in my booking and it was excellent. Staff were very helpful despite the difficulties and limitations.

Meryam at the front desk was lovely. Check in was crazy busy, as there was a volleyball tournament in town and she made it a good experience. The room was fine. Nothing amazing super wow, but clean and comfortable. The staff, overall, was great. However, the breakfast was disgusting. Cold, dry, like everything had been sitting out since yesterday. And the fruit was sitting in platters with the utensils just in them, or with the handle on the side, so they kept FALLING IN and people would put their hands IN THE FRUIT to take them out. No way that would pass an inspection. I spoke to the woman in the restaurant, and she just changed the whole platter, putting the utensils back in the same place. So, clearly she didn't get what I was trying to say. I did not eat after seeing this. Another issue was that a (tiny, because the is Canada) double brandy cost me $70 including tip, which I didn't realize until after the fact. That's on me. I know. For not checking. But still. Whoa. Anyway, shout out to Meryam but AVOID THE BREAKFAST AT ALL COSTS.

Our room was dirty upon check in and the air wasn’t working. While the hotel itself and the staff was great there was no attention to the issues we flagged when calling the front desk.
