First time staying at the Rex hotel. Honestly the hotel room itself was pretty much what we were expecting. It was clean and a fair size. Seemed pretty quiet as well. I will say though that the bed was not great, and the pillows were not great, and I wish there was a mini fridge in our room. Also, we wanted to go to the bar downstairs that was attached to the hotel for a couple of drinks. There was a jazz band playing. There was only one hour left of the show when we got there, and they wanted to charge us $50 for entry for us to have a drink and watch the show. If you are staying at the hotel I feel like this should be included. We did not end up going in there to have a drink because I didn’t need that costing us an additional $50. We ended up going elsewhere for a drink. Not sure if we will be staying here again or not.

Central location within walking distance of downtown tourist areas, and shops. No elevators, and toilet facilities somewhat dated. Rooms clean and Staff very attentive but meal times might benefit from being extended. If you like old style charm this is ideal, perhaps having more tourist info such as taxi numbers or bus maps would help.

Great little no-frills hotel in a good location downtown. Room had a sink but shared bathroom/shower which was clean and did the trick. Easy check in with the front desk, which closes at 11pm, so check-in is no later than 11pm, which was told to me in welcome email. Near subway, city hall, queen West, walkable to Skydome, Union station, arena, etc. Attached bar is a cool little place that has live jazz every night!

The room was fine. The only criticism is that the hotel is advertised together with its bar-restaurant, but the place always has events where they charge a cover charge and limit guests from dining there. This is inconvenient, as one would expect a hotel with a restaurant to allow guests to eat there, but charging a cover charge makes no sense.
