The promenade of Linda Beach marks the meeting point of the Caribbean Sea and the freshwater lagoon on which Cancun is built, Laguna Nichupte. This beach is the departure point for many charter boat and ferry operations and is the site of Cancun’s iconic rotating scenic tower.
Take a stroll along Playa Linda’s sandy shore to mingle with Cancun locals. The beach offers excellent people-watching opportunities and is always busy. The water is a picturesque turquoise blue, and warm. Due to the beach’s proximity to Cancun’s major marina, water traffic is heavy and the waters can be dirty and dangerous at times.
Walk the length of the beach until you reach El Embarcadero, the thriving marina precinct. From here, you can board a charter fishing boat, join a dolphin-watching cruise or take the ferry to Isla Mujeres. In the afternoons, gather with locals and tourists as fisherman return to unload their daily catches.
Playa Linda is home to La Torre Cancun, a rotating scenic tower that carries you high above the marina. Enjoy stunning views across the city of Cancun, and watch the waves breaking up and down the coastline from above. This is one of the best views in Cancun, and the entrance fee is minimal.
Playa Linda is also the location of many of Cancun’s best hotels. The area is popular among tourists due to its good-natured energy, and as a launch point for offshore Cancun Adventures.
Playa Linda is located approximately three miles (five kilometres) from downtown Cancun and is best reached by bus or taxi. As the beach is public, it is open all hours, and there is no entrance fee. Paid parking for the beach is available at the marina.
