DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji - Sonaisali Island
8/10 Good
"We recently stayed at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton on Sonaisali Island. While the resort has its charms, there are several crucial things future travelers should be aware of before booking. What to Know Before You Go: Isolated Without a Car: I would strictly recommend this resort only to travelers who have a rental car and the ability to easily get off the island. Limited Pool & No Swimming Beach: There is no real beach area suitable for swimming here. Additionally, the resort only has one pool, which makes options feel very limited and crowded during peak times. Lack of Liveliness: The resort felt a bit quiet. I really wish there were more organized kids' activities and a bit more overall liveliness around the property. Connectivity Issues: The Wi-Fi was very poor, and there was almost zero cell phone service. If you need to stay connected or do any remote work, it's a major struggle. Slow Check-In: Just like our experience elsewhere, our rooms were not ready at the promised 3:00 PM check-in time, and we had to wait. The Highlights: Wonderful Staff: The saving grace of this property is the people. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and great to deal with. Dining Notes: The food options on the island are very limited, and they definitely need more than just a few choices. However, the Fijian buffet they put on was absolutely fantastic and a highlight of the stay. Swim up bar is cool and the bartender was awesome!"

Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa
8/10 Good
"We recently stayed at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa, and while we had a memorable family vacation, there were a few areas that could use improvement. 🌴 The Highlights: Fantastic Pools: The multiple pools were a massive hit with my son, who absolutely loved the waterslides. It kept him entertained for hours. Excellent Massages: A few of us booked massages during our stay, and the spa experience was fantastic and highly recommended. Great Perks: The golf carts constantly moving across the property were incredibly helpful for getting around. Also, the New Zealand ice cream spot on-site was perfect for a daily treat! ⚠️ Areas for Improvement: Slow Check-In: The check-in process was quite slow, and our rooms weren't ready at the promised 3:00 PM time, which isn't ideal after a long day of travel. Dated Amenities & Tech: For a higher-end, expensive resort, I expected more modern amenities. The property could definitely use some upgrades. In particular, the Wi-Fi and internet connectivity need a major boost if you plan to get any work done. Dining Variety: While the food we had was good, having more diverse food options and restaurant choices right on the premises would be a huge plus. Overall, it’s a beautiful property with wonderful features for kids,"

First Landing Beach Resort and Villas
8/10 Good
"Australian family of four (our girls aged 12 & 14). We stayed in the two bedroom beachfront villa with private pool. Purchased through Expedia for about $1000 a night (accom & breakfast). Definitely recommend this room type - waking up to the beach and staring out to the ocean while relaxing by our pool was priceless. Took us a good 2-3 days to unwind and adjust to letting go of the hustle and bustle of normal life. I felt my uptight “Karen” attitude leave me by day 3 and the things I was low key annoyed about at the start seemed to disappear (for example, coffee not great, food a bit pricey, no green juice, skim milk was UHT, couch uncomfortable - none of this bothered me by day 3.) Eventually the Fiji island vibe took over us completely and we were walking slower, taking time to eat, not sweating the small stuff, noticing our surrounds and embracing it all. Our advice is to let go of finding a “perfect” resort (by Australian standards) - this place has everything you never knew you needed, in spades. Don’t book island trips before you go- get the Nalamu Lady (the resort’s boat) to take you out on a private charter, book the day before at the activities kiosk. Price is on par with going in a big group and service is completely personalized- they know the islands so well and will take you snorkeling, fishing, whatever. Stop looking at book :)"
