"I loved our one night here. It was a stop off on the way further south but I wish we could have stayed longer. So peaceful. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay happen, even when we arrived late. We ate our breakfast outside in the courtyard which was idyllic. The food was gorgeous. "I wanted to know if they could give me a room with a shower tray. No reply. I needed to cancel due to illness and then neither I could get hold of them. As a result I had to pay for a hotel I could not use. Expedia were unable to sort out this issue. Such poor communication means I will not use this hotel ever. I also am disappointed Expedia could not get the hotel to agree to basic customer service like being responsive to customer enquiries"

"We would not have booked here if we had known the Saturday breakfast was 9am to 10am. There is no information about breakfast times on the booking process. The TV was totally unusable as I do not have a modern PhD. I simply could not understand all this internet stuff. The Wifi speed was slow, less than 1mbps. Besides that, clean comfortable room, excellent real beer in the bar."

"Charming, old-fashioned guest house. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was cozy. Breakfast was quite nice. Note that this place is at the top of a steep hill. "Devonshire House was clean and well maintained. The bedroom was roomy and clean as was the ensuite. Plenty of tea and coffee and extra left in the communal lounge if required. Could have done with extra towels, only a bath sheet per person and one hand towel, could have done with one smaller towel per person for after washing your hair..minor criticism and we did manage by sharing the hand towel.. Chris was very friendly and helpful. We took his advice and went on the FREE walking tour around...
