"This might be the prettiest place I ever stayed at. The scenery is spectacular. The hotel is just perfect. It's a beautiful country-house with exceptional food and the service is great. A++. I strongly recommend this. We did the horse and ATV tour and it's a must do. Fly into Wellington and rent a car to see the beautiful scenery on the 2 hr drive. I would love to return."

"Buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food. The staff are polite and efficient. The location of the hotel is excellent and within easy walking distance of Te Papa, theatres,Parliament and restaurants. The only downside of my stay was an excessive bond($100 per room per day) as I do not have a credit card. This would limit the length of stay at this hotel"

"Parking is disappointing to have to pay - a major was the fact that i had an e-mail and my understanding of the word VALET meant the car was looked after and cleaned inside and out while we weren't using it !!!! the car wasn't in a covered area but at least we were lucky and had one of the few parks outside the hotel but again why such a high price for there own spaces.Lovely and very relaxing bath and good pressure with shower. Lounge room abit basic and obviously no welcome little bits .Poor...

"Had a small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator with cookware and dishes. Room was very clean. Had a small balcony.
No restaurant on site but there are options nearby.
There is even a grocery store to buy water and stuff.
We get very safe.
They give access to a well equipped gym which was amazing.
The housekeepers gave us bandaid when my daughter got hurt.
I locked myself out by accident in night- the manager answered the ring and helped open my door within few minutes, even though...

"Still in the process of new owners taking over, so for example can’t accept Amex yet. Most things remain the same - lots of opportunities for new owners to improve, from a fairly average spa with only a few jets working for 3 minutes at a time, to noisy rooms with average aircon. It would have been easier if there was a second step leading into the room off the footpath.

"Wow!! Our stay at the Sofitel exceeded expectations! We have stayed at quite a few different ones around NZ and we have to say that the Sofitel is in a league of its own!
