"We booked a standard room but they upgraded it to deluxe room (a nice surprise to ease our tiredness after traveling on a plane) Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, breakfast is very good, room is spacious, overall we loved our stay at East Indies Mansion. Tip: Don't forget to try the indian restaurant near the hotel (corner of lebuh pinang and lebuh china), their chicken kebab and cheese naan are delicious."

In fact, there are two multi story hotels right next door where you can get a double room and breakfast for less than $80.00, whereas this hotel charges $250/night. f one wants to experience the hotel, just take the guided visit, but stay at another hotel. "Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön und eine absolute Empfehlung. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß und trotzdem gut klimatisiert. Der Pool bietet eine willkommene Abkühlung in der schwülen Hitze und es gibt kostenloses Eis. Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit in allen lagen. Einzige Kritikpunkt ist, das es sehr laut ist. Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und man hört bis spät in die Nacht die Geräusche der umliegenden Bars sehr deutlich. Ohrstöpsel bekommt man aber an der Rezeption. "

"Rooms are beautifully and interestingly decorated and furnished, I think in the style of a well heeled Chinese family of a bygone era. Both rooms 8 and 9 are huge, especially 9. We were quickly offered a change to room 9 because the air conditioning unit in room 8 needed attention. Breakfast was à la carte, well cooked and sufficient."
