"I would stay here again. Close to the airport and to the train station. I had a long layover, and the hotel shuttle bus was easy and convenient. It was so nice to have such a short ride to the hotel (maybe 10 minutes, if that), after a long flight. Check-in was easy. The room was clean, the bathroom well lit, and the shower good. And it was quiet. Breakfast was good, with a large selection of both eastern and western food options."

"The Grand Hotel is the real deal. The history hits you the moment you walk in, the bones are beautiful, and the location delivers what it promises. If you want a property with genuine character and a real sense of place, this is it. That said, we had to cut our stay short. There was active construction going on that was never mentioned at booking, and finding out at check-in is not how a hotel at this level should operate. The staff, to their credit, handled it well and took care of a full refund without any hassle, which I appreciated. Worth noting on location: it’s great for soaking in what the hotel is all about, but if you want to step outside and be right in the middle of the city action, you might find yourself doing a bit more traveling than expected. Not a dealbreaker, just good to know going in. The reputation here is earned and I’d come back. Sort out the guest communication around construction and this is a five-star experience without question. For now, a strong four."

Palais de Chine Hotel

"We really liked the place. It was very different to any hotel we stayed before. The service was excellent and staff were all helpful. We had lounge access, and the lounge was quite lounge and atmospheric, like a library. We also were given access to the restaurant for dinner, which we didn't expect. Breakfast was also good with lots of choices. The room - deluxe suite king room, was spacious, clean, had a free minibar, had their own AI assistant and very cosy. The location is also very good and close to the main train station. The hotel was next to Q Mall, if you like shopping. We would definitely stay there if find ourselves in Taipei again. Next time, we'll make sure to get a reservation for Le Palais, the 3 star Michelin restaurant in the hotel, which was fully booked during our stay."
