"Highly recommend"

Gora Kadan

10/10 Excellent

"There is a sense of serenity at Gora Kadan that simply cannot be described in words. You need to experience it firsthand to truly understand why this ryokan is, arguably, the finest in all of Japan. The exquisite omakase dining, the beautiful facilities, especially the outdoor onsen baths, and the unparalleled hospitality were nothing short of exceptional! Service here is sublime, delivered with such grace and discretion that you often don't even realize something has been taken care of until you discover it's already been done! Minako was our hostess, and she was absolutely impeccable! She served our eleven-course omakase dinner in true traditional Japanese style, while somehow ensuring that our bathroom and bedroom were refreshed without us even noticing. When it was finally time to leave, she accompanied us all the way to the driveway exit to bid us a warm farewell, even presenting us with a thoughtful parting gift. It was a touching gesture that perfectly captured the extraordinary hospitality we experienced throughout our stay. I'll never forget our time at Gora Kadan, and I suspect you won't either if you choose to experience this remarkable ryokan for yourself!"

Mizunoto

10/10 Excellent

"This was a really wonderful experience to stay at this property. The rooms are traditional Japanese and so nice! The private onsens were also wonderful. They provided everything necessary for a memorable and pleasant stay. It rained the whole time while we were there so we didn’t explore much outside the property but we’re happy to stay inside and enjoy the amenities. The only downside, and this has nothing to do with the hotel itself, is the bus ride getting up there and then returning. It was a crazy mess. It was crowded beyond imagination and getting people on and off with their luggage was nearly impossible. It was the high season, so it may not always be that way."

"An absolutely amazing stay in Hakone. The room was clean and tidy and oh so very spacious. The private onsen was a dream. The dinner and breakfast options I would highly recommend as there isn’t a lot of options around. Location is slightly inconvenient but that’s just small town life. However, this is a more modern ryokan than a traditional one which was fine with me. A great place to relax and wind down."
