Catalonia Punta Cana - All Inclusive

6/10 Okay

"We have always had a great experience with Dominican people they are warm and welcoming. The resort is also family friendly, they had kids menu at restaurants, kids pool and pizza lunches. Common areas of the resort were always nice, clean, and maintained. Now for the con... Our room was not exactly as it appeared in the pictures. I feel the bedding and furniture can use an upgrade. But my main concern was the floor in our room was not regularly sweeped and cleaned. The resort also experienced some power outages during our stay. Rumor from people off the resort is that the outages are common and no other resort experiences these outages. Unfortunately I dont think our family will return to Catalonia in the future."

"Raul was great at handling all our request. He would check in on us multiple times. If you are coming here, I would recommend him. Besides him the service was great as well. A lot of friendly people. The resort is beautiful as well. Our only recommendation is that the quality of the food improves, as it was the only negative. Would recommend this resort!"

"Overall the resort was fine. It was my husband and I’s first time at a resort let alone out of the country so I don’t have much to compare it to. We still enjoyed our time. We booked the master suite which came with perks such as Elite service which meant we got a butler who could book reservations for us. Our room however had a jacuzzi on the balcony which was broken. We booked the room specifically for that reason which was unfortunate. The buffet food had a large variety but was overall mediocre. The restaurants they provide vary in quality. La Palapa was the worst and we don’t recommend people go there if they can help it. Braseria and Koi restaurants were great! I strongly recommend Koi Teppanyaki which was their Hibachi. The swim up bars and all bars we went to were totally fine. The service members at the Elite Desk, the Bulter, and the man who sold excursions were able to help us a fair amount but regular staff members weren’t as helpful and most spoke only Spanish which was difficult as English speakers. We noticed the guests who spoke Spanish fluently had a different and more positive experience than us English speakers. The room was clean and maid services came through daily to tidy it up which was nice. Our room was frigid as it was one of the only areas of the resort with AC. Just be aware and maybe bring extra blankets. We still enjoyed our time these are just observations we made. Since we had Elite status I believe that’s why we had more positive experiences"
