"The staff on checking in weren’t too friendly and rushed through all details - we had to ask to repeat some details. He didn’t know we had pre-paid for buffet breakfast so had to find details of booking to show him. The staff on in the morning were totally different; very friendly and helpful. "Whilst the staff are friendly and the restaurant and bar are nice, the room and the nights stay are something else . It doesn't bother me that they are dated and basic.....but, the smell of dirty toilet and damp was probably a little much. Not to mention an early wake up call with what sounded like a continuous rattling washing machine on high spin which went on for most of the morning. I never complain, unless I really have to....and this is one of those times "

"The hotel is old (but interesting) and needs a lick of paint here and there but the room was very clean. Bathroom with shower very good. Very nice double bed too. Breakfast was buffet style, was good though no fruit. No problem with Wi-Fi. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Excellent location for eateries and seeing old Southampton. Good value and would stay there again. "

"Great hotel. Staff were good but let down with restaurant weekend staff that could have done more. I kinda felt they didn't make an effort asking a colleague or finding out to andwer my questions instead of just saying "I don't know" Got my simple request wrong 3 times which was a shame.
