"There is absolutely nothing to do on the premises. There is nothing but a garden and two eating facilities. The WiFi was good. The breakfast was the same every day."

"The hotel has the right kind of luxury for Monteverde, not flashy or high-tech, but everything is clean and nice, staff is helpful, the location is great and the place is beautiful. The sauna and the jacuzzi are GREAT, and we had monkeys crossing the trees above us while we relaxed there; the food is delicious. We loved our stay!"

"Our stay at Cala Lodge was an absolute delight! What a very special place Francisco and family have created! We loved staying in the Mathilda House. It was perfect for our family of 5, ages 14-82, nestled in the cloud forest with floor to ceiling windows. It was incredible to see wildlife pass by, we felt lucky to be guests in their well-loved and protected forest. We had dreams and conversations with the howler monkeys throughout the night, and agoutis, coatis and diverse birds were easily seen...

"We stayed for three nights. The rooms were spacious, clean, with comfortable beds. The staff is amazing (I’d like to call out Adonis who is part of the dining/bar staff) and very helpful. The breakfast is also really nice. It is conveniently located a short walk from the town center. Overall, ticked all the boxes."

"This place is luxury in paradise. The setup with 3 bedrooms, open kitchen/living, and all the touches is amazing. The waterfall in the living room was an awesome touch, my 7 year old son loved it! The yard is well kept and great to play and hang during the little off time we alotted in Monteverde. The location is also awesome, with the night tour in Wildlife Refuge Monteverde being one of our trip highlights. It's a five minute walk from the house and a must do! My family with 3 kids would...

"Fabulous hotel, albeit a little overpriced for the amenities. We wished we would have stayed longer. We preferred Monteverde to La Fortuna. Saw more wildlife on this property than our whole trip! Great, large breakfast with lots of options for vegans!"
