Only problem for me was that the mattress was very old and saggy - this meant that I woke up...

"The room was clean and tidy, however when we stayed last year we had bottles of water in our room but this was not the case this time, I brought my own last year but didn't this year as I thought that bottles of water would be in our room. I also requested an extra pillow as the 2 pillows I had were flat, reception made a note of this but the pillow never arrived. Staff were all very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. "Parking was safe and secure, staff were incredibly helpful and the hotel was really good, clean and close to local amenities"

"The room itself was lovely however it was very noisy!!! Not only did it sound like there was a fish tank in the room, there was also loud crackling noises going on!! This resulted in neither of us getting very much sleep at all and unfortunately would put me off staying again. I can only hope this occurs a small minority of the rooms. Such a shame as it is a lovely hotel and perfectly located too."

"We stayed in a pet room. It was very clean. The breakfast was lovely too. Great stay for a great price. The TV remote didn't work, the iron didn't work and the kettle took a while to boil - on reflection, i'd still give it 4/5 re the cost."

"Having booked on Expedia a Double Deluxe was purchased however the person on reception wanted extra for a room and was told the only room available was a twin room being Room 6. It was not a nice room with sloping floor in the bedroom and bathroom. Rather disappointed as over the years I have colleagues who have stayed. Would return but would insist on getting the room I had purchased."

"For the price it was good. The food was a little limited and while there is room service it only runs to 9:30 so not the best. Staff were lovely, although the barstaff were yoing and inexperienced clearly not knowing what goes onto what cocktails etc... I would consider staying again, but probably only if there was an offer on"

"Room was excellent, all amenities avaliable, lovely breakfast and a good view of the River Tees with the peak of Roseberry Topping in the background. Would highly recommend staying here. "

"disappointed that found out after I booked pool was closed. Plenty of parking & room was clean with plenty of tea & biscuits. Bed comfy but did not sleep well due to a high pitched noise outside that would have been less audible had the window closed a bit tighter."

"Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. Flower borders were just lovely! Room (twin deluxe) was spacious, comfortable and clean. One note, we were in room 216 which had view over cafe at back, which was really pretty so not a problem. However, deliveries started unloading at 6am in the morning which wasn't great. The hotel is so close to Beamish working museum, very handy. Few good pubs in the area too."
