New owners have taken over hotel just over 2 mths ago and we found them to be very friendly, welcoming and hard working. "The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs."

"Property appears to have been recently made over, everything is new and fresh, extremely clean and although on the small side the rooms are perfect for overnight stays, comfortable bed and with more than enough tea/coffee supplies unlike a lot of places. The continental breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful. We could not fault the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money and we will definitely go back"

"We booked Holbeck Ghyll as a special treat after two days of walking in the Lake District and were genuinely looking forward to it. The reality was a serious disappointment. The room was in a poor state of repair: mould on the bathroom ceiling, rusted window frames, failing grout and sealant with black mould in the tile joints, and paint peeling throughout the bathroom. These are not superficial issues — they represent basic maintenance failures that should not exist in any hotel, let alone one...
